Ostin aikanaan Fugazin mielenhäiriössä kun se ilmestyi, koska se oli jostain syystä kaikkialla silloin listattu "heavy" -kategoriaan.
 
Se kolahti ihan eka soinnuista lähtien.

Outoa, minusta tuo levy ei ole tyyliltään kovin paljoa muuttunut Fishin ajoista ja onhan osa biiseistäkin tehty jo Fishin aikana, kuten "Clutching" remasterin bonuslevy osoittaa. "The Space", "Easter", "Berlin", "King Of Sunset Town"...Mitä hissimusiikkia noissa muka on?

Ilmeisesti joidenkin mielestä kaikki yhtyeet, jotka poistavat turhat progekikkailut, muuttuvat hissimusiikiksi.

Uusi tuplalevy tuloillaan. Odotukset korkealla hieman vaisun somewhere elsen jälkeen.

Well, the cycle has started once again.. We're back in the Racket Club oiling up the Marillion machine (or strange engine..) for the erratic journey to ALBUM FIFTEEN (!) and the ideas are really flowing now. We're here jamming and experimenting with new ideas while Mike Hunter runs around trying to record it all and feed back his own suggestions and enthusiasm. We're pleased to report some very interesting music is still emerging. This should see the light of day next Summer.. AND it will be another double album!
 
It's an inspired and exciting time for the five of us as artists, but also - with our "Intact" record company hats on - a time to reflect on the successes and failures of the last album release. We have had a lot of feedback about the lack of a "pre-order" or any kind of special packaging, extra material, or the popular "my name in the credits" versions of the last album. We thought you might have got tired of the idea, but the majority of you told us we were wrong!
 
So here's what we've decided to do..
 
You're going get what you asked for: We are planning to create an exclusive Special Edition of Album 15 which we are making available as a PRE-ORDER directly from us. Based on the success of the "Marbles" pre-order, we plan to make 2 different versions available: a 'Deluxe Campaign 2CD Edition' in super-sexy packaging with YOUR NAMES in the album credits - this will be priced at _29.99 and only available to pre-order; and also the Standard Release - the double album split into Volumes 1 & 2 available separately as 'normal' 1CD-in-a-box releases priced at _9.99 each.
 
When will it be released? What will be on it? Will there be extra music? When can I order? What about a tour?
 
Yes, you have questions, and we already have (some) answers. Just like previous pre-orders, we have set up a page on our website to answer all of these, and will continue to add to the list as we get feedback from you by email and on our Forums.
 
What we CAN tell you, though, is that we expect the album to be ready some time between July and September 2008 (but are not setting a firm release date as with previous pre-orders!) with an extensive tour to follow starting in September 2008 (more information about the tour on the website, but the album WILL be out before the tour.)
 
You are able to pre-order the album NOW, and each pre-order for the Deluxe Campaign 2CD Edition will enter you in to a variety of prize draws - including sound check/front row passes to the Snow-where Else tour, a visit to the Racket Club studio, gift vouchers, meet-and-greets, MORE sound check/front row passes to the Album 15 tour, and the STAR PRIZE (wooo..!) of an all expenses paid trip to the Marillion Weekend 2009... PLUS more as we think of them - phew!
 
Why do we want your money so far in advance? Many of you may be aware that the writing sessions for "Somewhere Else" were prolific, but there came a point where we had to decide which ideas to follow through for the album, and which to put to one side to develop to their full potential later on. Well, even though we do have several songs "on the shelf" which are close to completion, we've also recently hit something of a creative streak and have a lot of exciting new ideas that we're developing, and these inevitably entail a few months locked away in the studio. Once ready, we need to let people know about the album and the tour with advertising, posters, interviews... and of course we have the small task of manufacturing one hundred thousand albums, too.. (!)
 
By being part of the Album 15 Pre-Order Campaign you will once again be acting as our "global family record company" by contributing to the recording, manufacture and marketing of the album without us having to resort to the inevitable headaches which happen when we get into bed with "blokes in suits". Frankly we'd rather make this album with you. We did it before, and it felt good. It also inspired a few other tasty bands to "a better way of life" too..

Herättääkö ennakkotilaus kenessäkään "pakko tilata" -reaktiota?
 
Vielä arvon, että lähteäkkö vaiko eikö lähteäkkö tuohon tilaukseen.

Eipä herätä. Pikemminkin pelkoa siitä, että tulee oikein tuplalevy tuota viimeisien levyjen huttua. Ainahan voi toivoa parempaa, mutta tämän orkesterin kohdalla olen jo toivoni menettänyt. Ei ole bändi enää niinkuin ennen.

No ei sit missään kohtaa. Aina, kun kuvittelen, että tästähän urkenee mainio progebiisi, alkaa H ulisemaan jotain ihan ihme ulinaa. Tai sitten biisi vaan lässähtää muuten paikoilleen.

H:n ääni on kyllä mennyt paljon huonompaan suuntaan viime vuosina. Ulina on kuvaava sana kyllä. Afraid On Sunlightilla oli parhaimmassa iskussa.

Jotenkin noita viimeisiä levyjä kuunnellessa tulee mieleen, että sävellyspuoli on myös mennyt huonompaan suuntaan. Ihan hyviä ideoita ja teemoja biiseissä on, mutta niitä ei ole mielestäni mietitty ja sovitettu niin hyvin kuin aiemmilla levyillä. Sellainen "jammaillaan nyt että saadaan jotain levylle"-maku paistaa läpi minun korviini. Olisi kyllä kiva diggailla uuttakin Marillionia, niin hieno bändi on joskus ollut. Vaan kun ei pysty niin ei pysty. Täytynee vaan veivata niitä vanhoja kiekkoja ja fiilistellä niitä.

Marbles on mun mielestäni Marillionin paras levy! Ja ilman mitään mutinoita... Ja mä sentään oon aikoinani Clutching at Strawsin ostanut sen julkaisupäivänä jo ns. vanhana fanina!
 
Somewhere Else on mitäänsanomaton ja tylsä ja vaikka siitä yrittikin löytää väkisin hyvää, ei paljon käteen jäänyt.. Tosin Ruisrockissa sen levyn piisit toimivat ihan kohtuullisen hyvin ja kyllä Somewhere Else Live Concert DVD tilaukseen menee kun ilmestyy muutaman viikon päästä...

Voe pojat ja tytöt!!
 
Onpahan aika erinomainen dvd tämä uusi Somewhere in London! Parilta Lontoon keikalta viime kesältä kuvattu pläjäys plus ekstroina kaikki loputkin noilla keikoilla soitetut piisit, harjoituksia Racket Clubilta ja surround mixejä Somewhere Elsen piiseistä. Maistuu!
 
Edelleen pidän Somewhere Elseä tylsänä levynä, mutta saavatpahan tonkin levyn piisit aika melkoisesti lihaa luidensa ympärille näin liveversioina.. Pirulavita, osa niistä on ihan ..tun kovia piisejä!!!!
 
Tämä nousee kyllä Marillionin parhaaksi dvd:ksi, vaikka se Marbles on the road on kyllä erinomainen kans. Paras kuvaus/leikkaus ja parhaat soundit mun mielestäni tällä uutukaisella. Ocean Cloudin lopussa h hätäilee ja Rotheryn soolo jää tyngäks, mutta sehän on vaan inhimillistä! Sekä yhtye että yleisö on aivan liekeissä (joskus mä kyllä vielä meen Lontooseen tätä yhtyettä kattoon, se on nyt päätetty!!!) ja Sugar Micessa ja Easterissa laulut hoitaakin yleisö h:n tyytyessä lähinnä tissuttelemaan olutta ;-) Meno yltyy Marillion-asteikolla varsin riehakkaaksi ja Lontoon Forumissa on kerrankin kunnon pileet!

Tuplalevyä pukkais ja toinen cd voipi olla jopa konsepti-levy a'la Brave, kertoilee Kellyn Marko... Ei paha, ei paha..
 
Greetings earthlings!

As I write this Mr H is adding a vocal to a song called 'Grin and Bear It' so I've got a few minute spare to say "Hi!"
We have been locked in the Racket Club since the beginning of the year cracking on with the new album. At the risk of being called a liar sometime in the future I can tell you that 'Volume 1' is taking shape as a "theme". It could even turn out to be one continuous piece a la 'Brave'. We noticed that many of the songs we were working on seemed to be related and that got us started on this particular journey.
'Volume 2' of the new album will consist of all the songs that don't fit in with the theme (as we have quite a few that don't). I've written and recorded a piano piece at home that I'm hoping will make it onto 'Volume 2'. Pete has also written a song at home - music and lyrics - so as you can see this album will cover a lot of ground across the 2 CDs and hopefully you'll enjoy the journey!
Without giving too much away I can tell you we are very excited about how it's all going and we should even have a title for the album in the next few weeks. Keep an eye out for sound clips on the website in the coming months, too.

Ja oman nimen saa ikuistettua vihkoseen, jos tilaa levyn helmikuun aikana. Vielä mietin..

Tuli nähtyä Marillion livenä ruisrockissa 2007. Ihan hyviä biisejä, vaikka en tiedä bändistä oikein mitään.

Olen hiukan kääntänyt kelkkaani. Pakkokuunnellut Marbles (edelleen ihan p..) ja Somewhere else (oikeastaan ihan kuunneltavaa matskua, tosin ei sykähdytä suuresti ) ja H:n aikainen kokoelma (todella hyviä biisejä) ovat saaneet minut odottamaan uutta levyä. Kellyn lausahdus jotta Great Escape on bändin hienoin biisi pitää kyllä paikkansa. Toivottavasti uusi on jotain sinne suuntaan. Brave pitää vielä yrittää omaksua. Ainakin siinä on muutamia jo ennalta hyväksi toteamiani vetoja.

fugazia olen taas pitkästä aikaa pyöritellyt levylautasella, hieno levy ja bändi ..

Skotti aksentti ja Marillion:n proge_kausi iskee kuin miljoona volttia!!
Nyky Marillion ei oikein tipu, vaikka muutama uudempi levy löytyykin hyllystä .. no onhan siellä muutamia hyviäkin vetoja, mutta sanoisin ehkä kuitenkin pääasiassa liian ylituotettua tai täydellisyyttä tavoittelevaa, jos vertaamme esim. noihin bändin alkupään "rosoisempiin" progehtaviin levyihin, eikä se Hogarth:aan kähinöineen oikein jaksa innostaa ... H:sta ei mielestäni löydy minkäänlaista karismaa bändin keulakuvaksi, eikä äijä osaa nostaa biisejä samanlailla lentoon siten kuten herra Derek William Dick parhaina päivinään! Onhan ne kyl kaksi aika erityylistä bändiä > uusi ja vanha marillion nimittäin ... toinen soitti progea ja toinen soittaa hissimusiikkia LOL

Musta h on ottanut viime vuosina aimo loikan "karismaattisen frontmanin" suuntaan! Ei pelkästään lavaolemuksessaan, vaan hänellä on nykyään entistäkin keskeisempi osuus myös sävellystyössä (ja sanoituksissa tietenkin!). Soolokeikoillaan ja oman yhtyeensä kanssa tämä myös näkyy. Suosittelen etenkin h natural-dvd:tä, mikä ainakin meikäläisen kirjoissa nosti miehen pisteitä roimasti. Herran jutut on oikeesti hauskoja ja se lava-presence yksin keyboardin kanssa on yllättävänkin vangitsevaa!! Ja katsomossa on viime viikonloppuna menehtynyt äiteensäkin, joten R.I.P äiti-Hogarthille vaan..
 
Fishin viikunanrepimisissä ja Grendel-maskeissa oli kieltämättä jotain lumoavaa nuoruuden viattomuutta, sitä en toki kiellä! Fishin vahvuus oli (ja on??) sopivan kipeet lyriikat, alkoholinhuuruiset lavaspiikit, jotka parhammillaan olivat aivan tajuttoman hauskoja sekä ei-niin-kovin kaunis, mutta early-Marillion-musiikkiin täydellisesti sopiva voice!

Youtuben livepätkissä H kyllä toimii loistavasti bändin keulamiehenä. Vielä kun sävellyspuolella tuo tuleva uutukainen yltäisi H:n alkupuolen levyjen tasolle niin hyvä. Somewhere else oli jo hiukan lupaava Marblesin jälkeen. Marblesilla ei minusta toimi yhtään mikään. Ei sitten mikään.
