http://www.imperiumi.net/index.php?act=demos&id=2155 MMD Promo 09 CD-R 4/5 Pakko myöntää, ettei kovinkaan usein törmää yhtä hyvin hommansa hoitaviin dark metal -bändeihin - etenkään demotasolla - kuin ensidemonsa parissa pyörivä MMD. Kotimainen, vasta vuoden iän saavuttanut kuusikko on kasannut Promo 09:lle kolme biisiä, joista huokuu selvästi paitsi osaaminen, myös tyylitaju ja tasapainoinen instrumenttiensa hallinta. MMD:n kappalekirjo esittää genrensä mukaisesti tummanpuhuvaa, synkkää ja melodista metallia. Koskettimia käytetään sävyttämään kitaroiden hallittua, raskasta jyrinää ja bändi näyttää muutoinkin olevan kaikkea muuta kuin yhden tempun poni tai tavanomainen kloonibändi. Tempopuolellakaan ei sorruta vain nopeaan paukuttamiseen, vaan bändi osaa myös rauhallistempoisen fiilistelyn. Homma toimii monien osatekijöiden saralla hyvin ja sävellystyöstä vastuussa olevalla on selvästikin tyylitajua ja ymmärrystä kirjoittamansa materiaalin suhteen. Kaiken kruunaa eittämättä hiottu ja tyyliin istuva raskas soundimaailma. Skitat puhuvat murjovan murhaavaa kieltä ja koskettimet eivät jää sen enempää liian taustalle kuin puhu kielisoittimien päällekään. Rummuista löytyy voimaa uhkuvaa jytinää ja kaikkiaan osaset napsahtavat hyvin kohdalleen. Ainoastaan käheä rääkynöinti jää hieman turhankin taustalle, muttei sentään häiritsevässä määrin. Vaikka tarttuvuutta voisi kappaleissa olla hienoisesti enemmänkin, on jälki yllättävän hyvää ja ennen kaikkea hyvin tehtyä. Etenkin ensidemoksi bändi on suorastaan hämmästyttävän vaikuttava. En tiedä, onko Serpent menettämässä otettaan, vai oliko sillä koskaan mitään otetta, mutta itse en löytänyt tästä mitään uutta auringon alla. Eikä sillä, että vanhatkaan elementit olis miellyttänyt. Now, a year later, we are introduced to a new dark metal outfit coming out from Finland baptized by these mysterious 3 letters MMD that has recorded their first ever studio 3-track effort. The question is, can it bear daylight and be under peoples hard criticism? Well, now having been listening to these 3 songs nonstop for the last couple of days, Im secure to say, it can the songs speak for itself. All the songs are beautifully shaped around strong, oppressive and hostile sounding atmospheres, greatly executed bridges between each single song part that lock in nicely, a clever yet equal and justified use of each instrument involved that have found a very good harmony and balance in this whole dark metal picture of theirs that they have painted using strong colors and most of all, the guys prove clearly with these 3 songs already they are worth getting offers for a record contact already, without exaggerating the facts one bit. This is very strong material throughout, ripened with time, and professional dedication and motivation and I think Im not that wrong to claim that sort of Samael-ism and Dimmu Borgir-ism have been reigning somewhat supreme in most of these fellows households for the past years if their songs are anything to go by. MDD have truly shown their claws, and they are surely sharp enough to leave an everlasting mark in your memory. Great stuff here. | |
