Pariin otteeseen ollaan mietiskelty kauhuelokuvaa harrastavan kaverin kanssa samanhenkistä musiikkia eli toisin sanottuna kappaleita, joiden kertoma tarina kävisi kauhuelokuvasta. Elokuvien ääniraidat, tunnelmaltaan kauheat ja ahdistavat instrumentaalibiisit tai muut vastaavat eivät siis käy.

Bauhaus ja Bela Lugosi Is Dead tulee ensimmäisenä mieleen.
 
Hmm, joskus kauan kauan kauan sitten Rockradion aikaan tuli Yleltä jokin spesiaali, jonka aiheena oli juuri kauhurock ja siinä tuli kaikenlaisia alan kappaleita. Bauhausia, Curea, Screaming Lord Sutchia yms. yms.
 
Sain kyseisen ohjelman käpyiselle c-kasetille ja kuuntelin sitä monia kertoja ja musiikki teki jonkin lähtemättömän vaikutuksen. Synkkää ja hyvää tavaraa, sääli etten sen tarkemmin ottanut ylös kappaleita. Pah, kasettikin (keltainen Agfa) on jo aikapäiviä sitten hävinnyt, sääli.

Deathin vanhasta tuotannosta saisi oivallisia splattereita, mm. Zombie Ritual:

Roky Erickson täytyy tietysti mainita. Kaverin biisithän kertoivat muun muassa zombien kanssa kävelemisestä, demoneista, vampyyreistä, verisistä vasaroista ja muista yhtä nerokkaista aiheista.
 
Screaming Lord Sutchin koko tuotanto on suoraan kauhufilmeistä.
 
Joo, totta. Screaming Lord Sutchin "Hands of Jack the Ripper" on ainakin ihan silkkaa kauhua (musiikillisestikin - itseltäni löytyy tuo pitkäsoitto ja se on valehtelematta huonoimpia omistamiani levyjä). Nick Cavella on myös kappale nimeltä "Jack the Ripper", mutta sillä ei taida olla nimen lisäksi mitään tekemistä Whitechapelin murhien kanssa...?
 
CCR:n "Bad Moon Rising"
 
Elokuvaohjaaja John Landis käytti mielestäni "Bad Moon Risingia" ja muita kuu-aiheisia kappaleita hauskasti hyödykseen "Amerikkalaista ihmissutta" tehdessään. Fogertyn biisin sanat ovat aika mielenkiintoiset: mistähän kappale suoranaisesti kertoo? Mikä on tuo "paha kuu"? Vietnam-allegoria?

Ihan mikä tahansa King Diamondin biisi.
