CZX Custom löytyy ilman sarjan virveliä, elikkä lähelle. Kohtalaisen harvinaiset kait. Hukkaan tietenkin menevät meikäläisen taidoilla, pitäisiköhän myydä ja ostaa Milleniumit tilalle. (Itseruoskinnan kausi menossa, juuri kuuntelen treenikämppädemoja...) Lainaus PearlDrummersForumilta: The CZX came out a tad earlier than Rueben said - I belive it was the late 80's (88/89), and at the time was Pearl's "Flagship" kit - their top line. You have to remember, that up untill the Masters came out in 1993, the MLX (6ply maple, later to become the MRX) and the BLX (6ply birch, later to become the BRX) were Pearls top end kits. The CZX was a flagship, one step above, but it was a completely different kettle of fish really. I think it was Pearl's answer to the Sonor kits of time - thick shells, artisan finish, option of "square" tom sizes.... Also as said, these kits were all made in Japan, and I belive in the same place the Masterworks kits used to be made in (of course now they are made in Pearls central factory in Taiwan) Originally the "Custom Z" kit was only available in 100% maple shells - kicks and floor toms had 10ply shells (12.5mm thick) and the rack toms and snares had 8ply shells, 10mm thick. These drums only came with the Birds Eye Maple outply, which was specially imported from Italy soley for the CZX. The CZX is the only Pearl kit to have ever worn the Birds Eye Maple artisan finish, and also the only Pearl kit ever to wear the #300 Champagne Lacquer. Originally, sizes were either "deep" or "square" sizes. Deep being the equivilent of todays "power" sizes - 12x10, 13x11, etc - and square being same dpeth as diameter - 12x12, 13x13, 14x14 etc.... Sizes were; Kicks : 22x16 + 22x18, 24x16 + 24x18 Floor Toms : 16x16 + 18x18 Rack Toms : 10x10, 12x10, 12x12, 13x11, 13x13, 14x12, 14x14 Snares : 14x6.5 + 14x8 Later, around 1991 I belive, more sizes were introduced, with the addition of 15" toms, 8" toms and I *think* 20" kicks, but these I am not sure on. I have also seen a 16" rack tom aswell (and it didn't look like a 16" f/tom with the leg brackets removed either) Around the same time, the "Custom Z Studio" (which actually had the product code of "SZX" not "CZX" ) was also introduced. This was basically identical to the CZX, in terms of sizes, shell construction etc, but was and all birch kit. Originally these were issued in their own limited edition colours or Crimson Quarts and Midnight Quartz. Shortly after this, both CZX and SZX kits became available in the more common MLX and BLX colours. On these kits, the CZX dropped the Birds Eye Maple vaneer, and from memory the colours were : White, Black, Red, Blue and one more I can't remember I think..... This was the final year of the SZX and CZX, and also of the MLX, BLX, WLX (along with MX, BX, WX) and the following year, 1993, the new Masters Custom range was brought in, along with the Session kits (updated and evolved from the WLX) and the updated version of the Export. Birdseye-viiluiset CZX:t ovat todella komeita kannuja. Testaamaan en ole päässyt, mutta varmasti ihan pro-tason vehkeet kyseessä. Eikös näissä ollut melko paksut rungot, 9mm/10mm? "You're not right in the head and nor am I / And this is why / This is why I like you, I like you, I like you" |
