Pakko vielä laittaa että en koskaan unohda tilannetta, kun oltiin muutama vuosi sitten jossain yökerhossa ja kaiuttimista pamahti "Fresh Garbage" intro. Mestan musapolittiikka muuten suoraan MTV kamaa jne...Noh, noin kymmenen sekunnin kuluttua selvisi, että kyseessä olikin Pink joka perkele riffin oli ryöstänyt ja raiskannut. ...ja monologi jatkuu. Onko jollain jotain varhaista versiota Model Shop soundtrackista? Mulla uusintapainos vinyyli jossa mielestäni erittäin huonot soundit. Jos joltain löytyy cd tai varhainen vinyyli bootleg tms niin olen kiinnostunut tietämään julkaisijan jos soundit ovat hyvät. Ja jos tällainen lojuu hyllyssä eikä tule kuunneltua niin vaihtokauppaa voi harkita. Rahaa tulee myös jos sopuun päästään... Tattis! *Brian Jones Boozing Society* | |

Spiritin kuuntelu on jäänyt vähiin, vaikka "Fresh Garbage" on kiistatta loistava biisi. Hyllystä löytyy joku kokoelma. Onko jollain jotain varhaista versiota Model Shop soundtrackista? Mulla uusintapainos vinyyli jossa mielestäni erittäin huonot soundit. Jos joltain löytyy cd tai varhainen vinyyli bootleg tms niin olen kiinnostunut tietämään julkaisijan jos soundit ovat hyvät. Ei löydy hyllystä enkä tiedä tarkemmin äänenlaadusta, mutta ainakin monista mielenkiintoisista hankkeistaan tuttu Sundazed on julkaissut "Model Shopin" (Sundazed #6197) CD:na vuonna 2005: Sundazed uusintapainos vinyyli multa hyllystä löytyy. mulla on toi model shop cd. pitää olla kyllä aik fani (niinku mä) siitä pitääkseen. soundi on toki ehtaa vanhaa spiritiä. "sundazed sc 6197 mono" lukee ylänurkassa ja alakulmassa pienellä sonybmg. soundi on ihan ookoo. | |

Musician John Locke, 62, dies The '60s rocker died at friends' Oak View home By John Mitchell, jmitchell@VenturaCountyStar.com August 11, 2006 John Locke, a jazz/rock musician and songwriter who gained some notoriety with the group Spirit in the 1960s and 1970s, has died. Locke died from complications caused by lymphoma. He was 62. He died at the Oak View home of his friends Ricky and Cindy del Toro. "He was here the last nine days of his life," said Ricky del Toro. "He had had the lymphoma 14 years ago and was given six months to a year to live then. He was divorced, but he had custody of his little boy and brought him to Oak View. The cancer went into remission and it didn't come back until late last year." Ricky del Toro said his friend had been staying with his 92-year-old mother this summer. "But she didn't have air conditioning and we had that terrible heat wave," he said. "He was frail and called me. My wife, Cindy, and I have air conditioning and we got him a bed and built him a hospital room in our house. And that's where he died at 8:30 in the morning on Aug. 4." Fellow musician Jay Ferguson said he met Locke when both were students at UCLA. "We were sitting on the lawn," said Ferguson, a resident of Montecito. "I was 19 and he was 25. In those days, UCLA was a hotbed of rockers. The Doors and other groups came out of there." Ferguson said Locke had already established himself as a musician. He was a jazz club pianist and Ferguson was into the Beach Boys and the Beatles. Somebody thought they should get together. "I remember John's great smile," Ferguson said. "He started calling me Fergy and, when he did, he smiled. I can still see that smile." Spirit was formed in 1966. The original group was Randy California on guitar and vocals; Ferguson on vocals, percussion and tambourine; Mark Andes on bass; Ed Cassidy on drums; and Locke on keyboards. "You can hear John shine in the first couple of albums. The entire center of the song _Fresh Garbage' was an excuse to let him take flight on the keyboard." As time went by Spirit became tense. "It was a tumultuous group," Ferguson said. "John truly was the balance in the band. He was the peacemaker, the one who found common ground." According to the online source Wikipedia, the group's most popular single was "I Got a Line on You." Its best album was "Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus." By 1971, the problems grew too big and the group began breaking up. Replacement musicians arrived. In 1975, Locke returned to help a promotional tour for the album "Son of Spirit." "We all stayed in touch and reunited a couple of times," Ferguson said. "Everyone had long since outgrown the feuds and we enjoyed each other. "The last time I saw John was in my studio," he said. "We played some of his recordings, which were jazz-fusion. They were excellent. They were classic John Locke, great technique, modern and very musical. "An Englishman I knew characterized him as a most gracious man, and I believe that is a good term for him. He was very gracious." Ricky del Toro said he and Locke became best buddies over the past seven to eight years. "He enjoyed playing music at a small recording studio here," del Toro said. "He talked about his dreams of writing beautiful music and recording it. I had a passion for it, and he did, too." Locke's father, Charles, was a classical violinist and his mother, Marty, sang opera and was a composer and arranger. She gave her son classical piano training. "But he didn't go that way," del Toro said. "He wanted to do rock and roll and that's what he did." Locke is survived by his mother, Marty, and by his son, Alex, 18. Postaanpa tänne yhden muistokirjoituksen tapaisen. Seuraavan kirjoitti Nazarethin keskustelupalstalle orkesterin basisti, Pete Agnew. Hi Everybody, I know you've all heard about John Locke passing away recently. It's always sad when a pal dies (as you know , we are no strangers to this feeling). What can I say about John to let you all know what he was really like? We were recording " The Fool Circle " album in Monserrat in 1980 and found we needed a piano player for one of the tracks. Remember, this is the back of beyond and we thought we might fly someone in from the U.S. when one of the guys at the studio said they knew an American guy who was living on the island and he played keyboards. When he told us the man was John Locke we couldn't believe it. One of our favourite albums of all time was (and still is) Spirit's " Twelve Dreams of Doctor Sardonicas" and here was the very man who inspired the album with his amazing playing. I'll never forget when he walked into the studio with that big smile (you'll never see a better and bigger smile than this) and he said, " S'happinin' guys" He played so great on " Dressed to Kill " that we ended up having him play on almost every track on the album. We ended up hanging out with John for the next two months and just before we left we had a talk and everyone agreed we must have this guy in the band. He was up for it so we invited him to come and rehearse with us in Scotland (in January. Brrrrrrrrrrrr!) He came over and we rented him a house in the little village where I live. Problem was, the heating in the house wasn't switched on the night he arrived, (and I'm talking JANUARY in Scotland) and he has lived his whole life up till then in places like California and Monserrat. Next morning he phoned me and he was in my local hotel having breakfast. When I got there he was wearing every piece of clothing he'd brought with him. He looked like a giant Teddy bear. I don't need to tell you what an amazing musician he was because you can hear that in all of his recordings but I can tell you how proud we were to stand on the same stage with the man. We had a wonderful couple of years touring and recording (check him out on the " Live in Texas album ") but eventually John left because he couldn't stand the manager we had at the time. Funny enough, we ditched the same manager about 18 months later so who knows, maybe John would still have been with us a lot longer if we had done that earlier. I'll tell you this though, if they have a rock band in Heaven, the keyboard player has just lost his job because now there's a new kid in town. Mika Antero: Onko Spirit tuttu bändi teille hämyille? Olen hämy vain teoriassa mutta Spirittiä on taas viime aikoina tullut kuunneltua varsin paljon. Jos joku ei vielä tiedä niin bändin 1968 äänittämä elokuvasoundtrack Model Shop julkaistiin viitisen vuotta takaperin cd:nä ja se on kyllä hyvä. Spiritillä on pakosti ollut iso vaikutus Wigwamiin. Välillä alkuvuosien Wigwam kuulostaa kuin Blind Faith soittaisi Spiritin biisejä. Muutenkin erittäin valovoimainen bändi jonka aivan liian harva tuntee. Minun täytyi soittaa jazzia, ragia ja kaikkea muuta kirottua räminää, Bolden on syypää kaikkeen.
