Järjetön keikka! Paras keikka itseasiassa minkä olen nähnyt, meni Motörheadinkin ohi. The 7th House sivulle kirjoitin pientä juttua tuosta keikasta, laitetaanpa se nyt tähänkin vaikka englanniksi onkin:

Unbeliavable show!
 
We had our trip booked so that we arrived on the 19th to Stockholm, so we missed the signing on the 18th. We got to the venue around 4pm and went to the back of the venue and saw Big Val and Johnny there, we walked a little closer and Val asked if we wanted to get stuff signed we'll need to come back here after the show and he'll take the stuff for Glenn to sign on the bus. It was great to hear this allthough we were already pretty sure it would go that way anyway.
 
It seems that it's more of a common thing in Sweden (or atleast in Arenan) that the arrangements suck. 45 mins before the doors were supposed to be opened nobody didn't even know where we're supposed to be standing to be the first in line. We did eventually finally get in some sort of line and just around 6.30pm they did let us a bit forward and checked that we didn't have any cameras, weapons etc. It then took about 20 mins probably to finally get in. I quickly went and left my jacket in the cloakroom, bought a longsleeve COS tour shirt and went to the front row just next to my friend.
 
The waiting felt really long, like it always does, but the opening act, Blowsight, eventually did finally get on stage. At first it seemed like they wouldn't be just as boring as many of the opening acts in other shows, not to say that it still would've been good in any way, but after a few songs it became really boring. Well that's all I care about to talk about the opening act, except that thank God they did eventually went off the stage, what a relief. Not even to mention that it meant that we were again closer for Danzig to hit the stage.
 
Finally after all that waiting the lights went out and Wotans Procession started. Eventhough the crowd was a bit "quiet" at first, being at first row it still did feel like the crowd was more loud than it was. Finally Tommy, Johnny and Jerry came on stage and Tommy started to play SkinCarver and finally Glenn came on stage with his leather jacket on, it was unbeliavable!
 
I won't start going on more about the setlist as it was already written above, the whole show was highlight after a highlight. The band was in amazing shape, Glenn's vocals sounded so fucking amazing, Jerry and Johnny played really well and Tommy did brilliant job on the guitar. It's impossible to believe how great they were, but it's just true.
 
For a few songs I was in the front row and it was brilliant, but then at one point this fucking asshole next to me hit me right to chest with his elbow which hurted like fuck and then pushed me to the next row. So then he was next to my friend and he said that he was indeed one big asshole, all the time trying to hit you and so on. He did eventually at one point hit me with his elbow straight to my nose as I was behind him, and it wasn't even an accident. Fucking bastard. Anyway no matter as the crowd did suck a little bit and there was few bastards in the crowd, the show still was the greatest thing I've ever seen.
 
When the show finally ended (what a shame!) I felt like I would've just come up from water having been thrown there with all my clothes on. I then saw my friends and we went and bought something to drink and then quickly went to the cloakroom and got our jackets and other stuff and quickly went to the back of the venue and started waiting for the guys to come out. My friend (TVCasualty) had Danzig 4p and Samhain Unholy Passion LP's with him and me and my other friend both had just a COS booklet and of course our tickets for the show. For some time there was just the three of us waiting, but then Danjel666, Danzich and Moribund turned up too. We then waited for a little while close to the bus before Val came up and told us to wait outside the gates. He then joined us for a while and talked with us for quite some time. Really nice and funny guy he is and we took a couple pics with him too with my friends camera. On the other one he was with TVCasualty and on the other one with Danjel666. He then left for a while and promised to take our stuff to Glenn for him to sign them later on. After a while Johnny came out and came to us. We thanked him for the great show and talked for a little while. If I remember correct Danjel and the guys talked with him for a little while about The 7th House and such. Johnny was a really great guy and shook all of ours hands for a couple of times. He was also really glad when TVCasualty thanked him for the great shows in Nottingham and London too. We then asked him if it's ok if we quickly take a group photo with us all 7 in it, because he was a bit in a hurry as it was pretty cold outside and he had to go and call his little girl at home. We asked the security guy to take the photo which did turn out pretty good otherwise Danjel completely missing from the photo as he already did tell above . We then once again thanked him for the great show and everythink and shook his hand and so on. It was really great meeting them, he was such a brilliant guy!
 
Then after a while Glenn came out, we shouted at him thanking for the great show and he just waved his hand and quickly went to the bus. Val then came up to us and took our stuff. We asked if there's any chance of a photo with Glenn, but Val said that he was tired and it's cold outside so he don't wanna risk his voice. He then went back to the bus and gave the stuff for Glenn to sign. It took a little while and we talked alot with the swedish guys, just joking around, especially about how Glenn would probably be very carefully looking to make sure that TVCasualty's Unholy Passion was not a bootleg. At one point we did eventually see Glenn looking at the Unholy Passion, but thank God he did see it was not a bootleg as Val did finally bring back it in one piece and with Glenn's autograph on it, just like the other stuff we gave him to be signed. I got Glenn's autograph on my COS booklet and my ticket and so did my other friend and TVCasualty got Glenn's autograph on his 4p and Unholy Passion LP's and his ticket. I think the swedish guys got their tickets signed, am I correct?
 
We then finally left after we got our stuff, it was amazing! We then walked up to the T-bana station to get something to eat. We then once again met with Danjel and Danzich, that didn't take too long, eh? Had some pretty good kebab and asked from the guys to give us some tips on how to get to the CD Exchange record store as the guys told us before that they had the new DVD for 125 kronor. We then thanked the guys for everything. It was really nice meeting you guys, cheers! By the way, I was the one with the leather jacket.
 
The next day we went to the CD Exchange store and it was a really nice shop. We talked for quite a while the owner (I suppose so?) about Danzig and so on. He saw that TVCasualty was a big Danzig-fan (he did told him that he just saw Danzig in London and Nottingham too just a couple days ago) and he showed us a copy of the new DVD with Glenn's signature on it and offered to sell it for TVCasualty for the same price (125 kronor) because he saw he was a big fan. The shop was great and he was a really nice guy too, will definitely go back there the next time we're in Stockholm.
 
Finally got home in Finland just a couple of hours ago. Amazing trip, perfect actually.

Miten helkkarissa Glennin ääni on levyllä kuulostanut erittäin heikolta (verrattuna aikaisempaan) heti nelosen jälkeen?

Näyttihän se tuollakin heittäneen Misfitsiä ainakin tuon Skullsin verran.

Nimittäin 29. kuluvaa kuuta julkaistaan Danskulta ontuvasti nimetty "The Lost Tracks of Danzig", mikä lupailee nimensä mukaisesti studion kaappeihin lojumaan jääneitä kappaleita ja ehkä jotain uusia versioita. Itse olen aika puristi tän Danzigin tuotannon kanssa, joten IV:n jälkeiset levyt eivät ole kovinkaan paljon positiivisia tunteita herättäneet. Melkein sama juttu kuin Misfitsit post-1983. Tämä Danskun livelevy oli kyllä hyvä, mutta olen kyllä pettynyt jos nämä Lost Tracksit ovat jotain Danzig Vitosen ylijäämäkamaa. Esimerkiksi Danzig Kakkosen levyltä jäänyttä materiaalia olisi mahtava kuulla.

Liitetäänpä tähän aamulla epähuomioissani avaamani jo suljetun ketjun sisältö:
 
Keskustelua tänne Glennin bändeistä. Mitä levyjä suosittelette? Tutustuin tässä vastikään Danzigin ensimmäiseen ja se ainakin innosti kovasti. Myös Misfitsin Walk Among Us on havaittu aikoinaan varsin kelpo tekeleeksi, ainakin muistin mukaan. Samhainista ei taasen ole minkäänlaista kuulohavaintoa.

Joo-o, eipä noista paljoa irti saanut. Jos vähän arvuuttelemaan lähtee niin biisien nimien puolesta materiaali on kalleellaan nimen omaan myöhäistuotantoon. Oli siellä pari tuttuakin, nimittäin When Death Had No Name on ihan Danzig I:n aikainen biisi. Tuo Come to Silverin taas Glenn sävelsi itse Johnny Cashille. Tarinahan meni niin, että Rick Rubin pyysi Glenniä kirjoittamaan Cashille kappaleen, joten Glenn teki tämän Come to Silverin ja Thirteen -kappaleen, joka päätyikin Cashin mainiolle American Recordings levylle. Come to Silveriä pidän muuten kehnon Danzig V:n parhaimpana biisinä, joka varmasti pääsee oikeuksiinsa akustisena versiona :) Tuo T.Rex coveri vaikuttaa aika lupaavalta myöskin. Toivottavasti Dansku ei valitse taas niitä helvetin rujoja kansitaiteita; esim. Black Aria II:n kansi oli ihan pohjanoteeraus.

Mitä tuohon Inkogniton kysymykseen, niin vastaus riippuu ihan makuasioista. Itse pidän Danzigin tuotantoa IV albumiin saakka ihan timanttina, jolloin ei voi mennä vikaan valitsipa minkä levyn tahansa. Ehkä paras ostojärjestys voisi olla ihan I, II, III, IV. Ykkönen on sitä perusdanzighardrockia mistä saa hyvän kuvan miehen tyylistä. Kakkosella musatyyli vaihtelee ihan Blues/Roots meinigistä (Killer Wolf, I'm The One) powerballadeihin (Blood and Tears) ja tuomionpäivän tukanheilutukseen (Pain in the World). II: Lucifuge siis on levyn nimi, ja itse väittäisin tätä parhaaksi Danzig levyksi. Kolmonen on vähän epätasaisempi tapaus vaikka hyvä levy onkin. Välillä vedetään sillä hard rock poljennolla ja välillä taas himmaillaan. Nelonen on taas suuri irtiotto aikaisempiin levyihin. Tähän Danzigin levyyn on ehkä vaikein päästä sisälle, mutta erittäin palkitseva. Tunnelma paljon synkempi kuin edellisissä, tempo toisinaan hitaampi, mutta kappaleet ovat suurimmaksi osaksi vaihtelevia ja tunnelmallisia. Varsinkin levyn päättävä (jos bonusraitaa ei oteta lukuun) hituri Let It Be Captured on aivan loistava. Samoin Dominion, Son of The Morningstar ja I Don't Mind the Pain ovat niitä levyn suosikkeja. Täytyy tässä vielä samaan hengenvetoon mainita, että Danzigin (alkuperäinen) kitaristi John Christ on mielestäni mahtava, vaikkakaan ei mikään soolotaiteen uudelleenkeksijä olekaan. Mahtavia riffejä Danzigin loistavaan lauluun yhdistettynä, ai jai.
 
Vanhemmasta tuotannosta en erityisemmin perusta: ääni kuralla tai ainakin miksattu päin helvettiä, tyyli vaihtunut industrialin kautta jenkkimetalliin ja lopuksi alavireiseen masennusmättöön, biisit yhdentekeviä (muutamia poikkeuksia lukuunottamatta) ja tietysti se suurin seikka eli miehistönvaihdos tuottaja mukaan lukien.
 
Levyn nimet siis ovat I, II: Lucifuge, III: How the Gods Kill ja 4. Levykauppiaalle kun sanot että "onko teillä Danzigin kolmosta" niin kyllähän se sillä selviää.
 
Edit: Korjasin pari ilmaisua eri synonyymeillä; "aivan loistava" tuli vähän turhan usein ;)

Ostoon menee kyllä Lost Tapes. Avatarista voikin päätellä, mikä on tehnyt suurimman vaikutuksen, siitä huolimatta siitä että levykokonaisuudet eivät yhtä vahvoja olekaan, ku Danzigilla. Misfitsilläkin on helkkaristi kovia ralleja, mutta Samhain sattui olemaan oman aikansa (ja kaikkien aikojen) tylyimpiä bändejä.

Sitähän se kyllä olikin. Verta ja pääkalloja ja isoja lihaksia :) Mutta joo, itselle ne Samhainin levyt ovat juuri epätasaisia ja vähän liian, öh, rankkoja mulle. Esimerkiksi Archangel on minusta ehkä se paras Samhain kappale ja samalla se taitaa puhallella munille potkimisen sijaan. On niissä brutaaleissakin biiseissä helmensä, kuten Black Dream. Misfitsit kiehtoi juurikin niiden poppismelodioiden vuoksi sekä tietty sen horrorin.

No höh, Lost Tracks julkaistaan vasta 13.6. Saapahan huokaista helpotuksesta tuon kansikuvan kanssa, nimittäin aika hyvältähän se näyttää, vaikkakaan kliseisestä satanistirituaali -kuvastosta ei olla luovuttukkaan:

Heh, sepä vasta korni olisikin. Pelkäsin vain, että Dansku laittaa kansiinsa taas niitä alistettuja E-kupin tyttöjä yläosattomissa. Ne kun tuppaavat jäämään siihen huonon maun ja koomisuuden välimaaston, mikä ei varmastikaan ole tarkoitus. Liippaa vähän turhan läheltä Spinal Tapin Smell the Glovea :) Noh, tyylinsä kullakin.

Kyllä tuo uusi menee ostoon varmaan, vaikka ei Danzig neljän ensimmäisen levyn jälkeen juurikaan ole napannut. Ne neljää ekaa kuitenkin ovat niin huippukamaa, että "jämäbiisitkin" ovat varmasti hyviä. Oikeastaan I-III kulkevat samaa polkua ja neljäs on välimuoto tulevasta. Nelonen ehkä minun silmissä tällä hetkellä paras lätty. np. Danzig - Can't Speak

Olen täysin samaa mieltä, neljä ekaa hallitsee. Näistä paras minun mielestäni on ihan eka. Siltä löytyy se aito synkkyys ja tunnelma. Ja John Christkin oli tuolloin vielä kuvioissa. Pakko vielä sanoa että CantSpeak on Danzigin paras biisi.

Mikäs siinä Cantspeakissa niin kovasti viehättää? Mielestäni ei ole mikään kuningaskappale, vaikka taisi sinkuksi päätyäkin. Samalta levyltä Dominion on vähän samoissa linjoissa, mutta paljon hienompi, ehkä se hienoin. Itse koviten on iskenyt tuo Lucifuge, jolla on niin tiukkoja ralleja, että oksat pois. Girl on kyllä tylsä. IV hyvänä kakkosena Danzigin levyissä.
