Rolling Stone kysyi Soundgardenin jäseniltä, voisivatko he jatkaa musisointia yhdessä ilman Chris Cornellia. Eivät he ideaa ainakaan tyrmänneet.

Varmaankin Ian Thornley jos hakisi laulusoundillisesti samanlaista tyyppiä. Osaisi varmasti myös kitaraosuudet. Luulenpa, etteivät kuitenkaan halua kloonia muuten kuin ehkä yksittäiselle tribuuttikeikalle. Toivottavasti kuitenkin tekevät jotain yhdessä.

As for Soundgardens future, Thayil says more releases are in the works. Thayil is managing the bands catalog, working with Sub Pop on possible compilations, live albums and other unreleased material, as well as discussing potential projects with A&M. While Thayil plans to continue making music with Cameron and bassist Ben Shepherd (among other friends), writing or touring under the Soundgarden banner again seems doubtful. No, I dont think thats anything wed give reasonable consideration to at this point, Thayil says. When I say at this point, I mean perhaps ever laughs.
 
Pressed for more, he adds: I dont know really what kind of thing is possible or what we would consider in the future. Its likely nothing. The four of us were that. There were four of us and now theres three of us, so its just not likely that theres much to be pursued other than the catalog work at this point.

Onko tyyppi oikeasti laulanut missään tuon sortin menoa? Jotain reggae-molotusta olen kuullut ja räppiä, jotka toki sujuu hyvin, mutta Rusty Cage-tyylin hommat? En usko.

Kim Thayil kertoi Billboardille, että bändillä oli uusia biisejä demovaiheessa Chris Cornellin kuollessa. Tällä hetkellä keskustelevat siitä, mitä noille demobiiseille pitäisi tehdä. Ensisijaisesti fokus on kuitenkin reissue-julkaisuissa ja ensimmäisenä taitaa olla vuorossa vuoden 1987 Screaming Life-EP jonka miksaavat yhdessä Jack Endinon kanssa.
 
Tammikuun 16. päivä Los Angelesin Forumissa järjestetään Chris Cornellin muistokonsertti. Mukana on Audioslaven, Temple Of The Dogin ja Soundgardenin jäseniä sekä lisäksi myös Metallica, Ryan Adams ja Foo Fighters. Chris Cornellin uran kattava boksi julkaistaan tänään.

Chris Cornellin muistokonsertti pidettiin eilen Los Angelesissa. Lavalla nähtiin mm. Temple Of The Dog, Metallica, Maroon 5, Miley Cyrus, Foo Fighters ja tietenkin Soundgardenin jäljellä olevat jäsenet. Soundgarden-setissä vierailevina solisteina nähtiin Pretty Reckless-yhtyeen Taylor Momsen, Tom Morello, Wayne Kramer ja Peter Frampton

Chris Cornellin kuoleman aikaan tekeillä ollut uusi levy on tällä hetkellä pysähdyksissä. Syynä siihen on se, ettei muu bändi ole saanut lauludemojen mastereita, joita Cornell kuolemansa aikaan työsti. Kim Thayilin mukaan heillä on demoista kopiot, mutta he tarvitsevat masterit jotta voivat tehdä päällekkäisäänityksiä. Bändi haluaisi saada levyn valmiiksi, mutta he eivät noita tiedostoja ole pyynnöistä huolimatta saaneet.
 
Thayil myös kertoi haastattelussa keskustelleensa Matt Cameronin ja Ben Shepherdin kanssa yhteistyön jatkamisesta live-esiintymisten muodossa. Kaikki kolme haluavat soittaa Soundgardenin biisejä livenä, mutta Thayilin mukaan ainoa keino jolla se on mahdollista on että he soittavat yhdessä. Speaking of unheard material, what state was the unfinished Soundgarden album in, and will it see the light of day?
 
It was demos, but the demo quality was pretty good, because both Chris and Matt had become very interested in their home recording technique, so they might demo a song, and then Ben and I would add our guitars or bass. Maybe Matt might play drums to a riff that Chris had recorded. And that would be recorded by one of our engineers or techs.
 
This is an interesting thing: our entire backline, our guitar techs and bass techs, are all also record producers and recording engineers, so we love that they want to go on the road with us, and we love the guys in the studio with us, but the only people who do both are Nate Yaccino, Josh Evans and Dave French. Those guys have worked with us in the studio and onstage, and thats a great family to have, to be involved in all aspects of a bands career. So that will help us.

We dont know. Weve asked nicely, weve suggested that this will benefit all parties, if the band could just have these files, and we could finish the songs we were working on.
 
But there seems to be some confusion amongst various parties as to what that would entail and how that works, and who that would benefit. And its been tiring, you know. And we cant move on until some future date when someone realises the value of allowing the creative partners to have access to the material.
