Hey!
I'm new to Helsinki but I'll be staying here for at least 3.5 years for the time of my studies. I am a guitarist with many years of experience, mainly in funk, blues, jazz, pop-rock areas. Naturally I want to play with some people so a great start at least would be to jam with someone somewhere! So my question is are there any clubs with jazz/blues/funk jam sessions going on on a more or less regular basis? Or maybe there would be other places to find people to jam with? I will appreciate any information on this matter! |

Bar MENDOCINO (Eerikinkatu 28) and Londob Pub (Fredrikinkatu 46) used to have Monday-night jams with bluesy stuff at least. STORYVILLE then, in Museokatu 8, has sometimes had some jazzjams, but I don't know how regularly they do them and if they do them anymore at all. Never been/seen.

Go to Liberté (Kolmas linja 34) every sunday. My favorite bar jam sessions in Helsinki, "Naulaamo-klubi". http://www.clubliberte.fi/molemmat soittaa samaa mutta toinen enemmän oikein kun toinen... sisältä on kuitenkin sama..=I -Speedy |
