Your last question is very interesting. The semantics or logic behind my artist name. Well it is a bit of a long story. First my given name is "iroro", it is from the delta region of Nigera where my father is from, in the language of my grandmother, called Urhobo. In choosing an artist name, I wanted to replicate the alliteration (repetition of "r" sounds). So I started looking at baby name books from all over the world. I stumbled on a finnish site that had Ruoho and Ruotsi and pronunciation "wave files" so I could hear how it is spoken. I liked very much the alliteration and the proximity to african names. Last year, the name of the protagonist in and title of the South African film that won "best foreign film" in hollywood was called "Tsotsi".
Finally, I wanted an artist name that was (in my mind) free from associations, so I could feel free to create my own! Names like "crazyfish" or "postal service" are too tied to the language of english. I didn't want that. So that's about it, i hope this makes some sense.
