OK, let's try to organise something? We need some active members for the organising team. We also need to find a suitable place for the event, work out the programme for the day and also work out a marketing plan. Maybe we need also a few sponsors?
NB! And there has to be Mr. Jan Olof Strandberg in our show, definitely! ;)

Any more ideas?

Probably we should aim for late 2007 or early 2008. The wheels turn slow in these matters.

What really counts is how many people are expected - sets the demands for the venue.

As we already have a "Bass day" in Finland by the Stadia school, the concept should be different than just a showcase. What might be interesting for also importers & retail people would be a shoot-out sort of a thing as the main event á la Guitar Player: Different basses would be tested through the same rig according to same principles, in solo and in band settings (jazz, rock, funk, metal for example - same tunes always). The audience could then listen what sounds good to their ears and make their own decisions about the basses. Also the notoriety factor of someone leaving out their stuff from the shootout would be handy.... ;)

The same thing could be done with different amp rigs.

That concept might be lucrative for an audience: "No More Bullshit: The Definite Bass Gear Shootout!" And put in the poster Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef standing opposing each other, backed by walls of SVT cabs and rows of basses... ;)

If Mr. Strandberg is also with it, he surely has ideas what strings to pull when it comes to approaching sponsors.
"You're not Jesus or Popeye the Sailor
You are Sigurd, an eminently capable purveyor of flava."
