According to GIGWISE.com, "Following rumours of a split earlier this year, it now appears that Garbage may have finally called it a day, with an announcement that all European dates on their 2005 world tour have been cancelled.
A statement released on Friday placed the blame for the cancellation on the band's heavy workload and in particular their touring in 2005, though the fact that their tour schedule fails to differ from any other popular band's touring schedule or the fact that it is only the second tour they have done in the last seven years was not mentioned."
On a Melbourne's Herald Sun interview, Shirley was quoted saying "We knew we had one last good album in us left" and "I want to make a solo album one day". Also said how she loves touring too much at the moment but now that's out of the way.
Also, according to a Butch Vig interview a few time ago, "The future is up in the air," he says. "We're all trying to enjoy the moment and play good shows. Like I said, it could be our last tour. We want to try to stay in the moment."
Butch's mom passed away very recently, and Matt Walker replaced Butch at least on their Chicago Show.
Official news so far confirm October's UK and European tour cancellation, but confirm the August and September's US, Canada and Australia's dates. Garbage are also gonna perform on Rove on September 20th.

no, toivottavasti kyseessä on vai väliaikainen ryytyminen keikkailuun. Off-topiccina voisi kysyä, että onko täällä kukaan nähny Garbagea livenä? Bändihän on kaiketi käynyt Suomessa kahdesti? mulla on pari bootsi dvd:tä, ja ainakin niissä vetävät pirun hyvin.

Näin Avalonissa Bostonissa huhtikuussa ja HFStival tapahtumassa Baltimoressa pari viikkoa myöhemmin. Toimi kyllä sika hyvin livenä. En usko että hajoavat...niin kova fiilis oli lavalla.

Näin minäkin uskon, kun katsoo esim: jotain keikaa vuodelta 96 bändi, tai lähinnä Shirley näytää täysin vittuuntuneelta koko touhuun, lähinnä se oli varmaan epävarmuutta, mutta päällepäin se näytti vitutukselta:)
Kun taas tsekkaa uudempia keikkoja Shirley jopa HYMYILEE, se on jo jotain se.

Mutta kyllähän rivien välistä on ollut luettavissa eri haastatteluista, että homma alkaa olla taputeltu. Aika kovan tuskan takana oli tuo viimeinenkin levy. Itse en henkilökohtaisesti odota Garbagelta enää mitään, sinkoilevat varmaan omille tahoilleen heti, kun pakolliset keikat on heitetty / peruttu...

Minusta rivien välistä on jo kauan ollut tuo hajoaminen luettavissa? Onhan bändin keski-ikäkin pappa/mammatasoa jo.

no kyllähän se on niiden kahden ekan levyn jälkeen vähän hiipunutkin, jotta en ole yllättynyt.

pari-kolme vuotta sitten roskildessa. shirley oli melkoisesti päissään (tosin hyväntuulisesti) ja kuittaili tovereilleen läpi keikan. mainio keikka.

After reading all the bullshit out there about the future of Garbage, we felt compelled to write a few lines here to address the issue and set the record straight.
 
Certain journalists have taken the liberty of running wildly inaccurate stories in recent days about our so called "break-up". Made up out of cobbled together,out of context quotes to feed some perverse agenda of their own,these stories are nothing more than idle speculation and are completely inaccurate.
 
The truth of the matter is really simple and surprisingly hard to misconstrue. For more than ten years, we have been in a cycle of album-making and touring and for the first time in our history, we have made a decision to break that cycle and take some time off. What does that mean? We are NOT breaking up. However, we ARE taking some much-deserved time off to spend with our families and friends. How much time? We don't know.
 
This decision came as a difficult yet necessary one in order to preserve something we hold very dear. The last ten years have been an incredible experience for all of us and we appreciate all the freedom, love and support you have so generously given us during that time. We are eternally grateful to you all and we look forward to the next chapter in all of our lives with great excitement and enthusiasm.

Eli ennaltamäärittelemätön tauko ei tarkoita samaa kuin hajoaminen. Ei syytä huoleen. Juuri siitä on kyse mistä Wellu avausviestisään sanoi, väliaikainen kyllästyminen keikkailuun ja keskittyminen perhe-elämään joksikin aikaa.
