Korean Tom Waits Suomeen
 
Eteläkorealainen Uh Uh Boo Project esiintyy ensimmäistä kertaa Suomessa perjantaina 3. lokakuuta bar-café Kipsarissa. Viisihenkisen yhtyeen musiikki on kiehtova sekasotku likaista kabareejatsia, räkäistä bluesahtavaa punkrokkia ja korealaista perinnemusiikkia. Uh Uh Boon musiikkia on toistuvasti verrattu Tom Waitsiin, jonka kaikki laulaja Uh Uh Boon äänen kuulleet varmasti allekirjoittavatkin. Koreaksi..
 
Viime vuonna ilmestyneen yhtyeen kolmannen levyn 21c New Hair myötä Uh Uh Boo Project kiertää nyt Eurooppaa. Yhtye saapuu Saksasta ja esiintyy heti Helsingin keikkaa seuraavana päivänä Tukholmassa. Suomeen bändi saapuu muutamaa päivää ennen Kipsarissa esiintymistään.
Uh Uh Boo on maailmalla tunnettu ehkä paremmin lukuisista eteläkorealaisiin elokuviin tekemistä soundtrackeistään, viimeisimpänä ohjaaja Im Sang-soonin komediaan "A Good Lawyer's Wife" (2003) ja Rakkautta & Anarkiaa -festivaaleillakin esitettyyn Kim Jee-woonin elokuvaan "The Foul King" (2000).

..dark, moody and melodramatic, and full of all sorts of surprising twists and turns: a dirty smear of jazzy, bluesy rock, punk mayhem and traditional Korean music. As soon as I thought it was one thing, it turned into something else. But the best thing was Uh Uh Boo's voice, which was incredible. ..raw emotion. He may remind some people of Tom Waits, Nick Cave or maybe James White, but those are superficial comparisons. He's got more range and expression than all three of them combined. In a strange way, I think he's a lot closer to someone like PJ Harvey. Like her, he can drag his voice down through the mud or up through to the heavens with equal ease, and make both sound wonderful. He really knows how to rub it 'til it bleeds..
