The 12AX7 is considered to have an gain factor of 100%. Its sister triodes, the 12AT7 and 12AY7, have much lower gain factors and can be freely exchanged in place of the 12AX7s.
 
Replacing several preamp tubes with their lower gain counterparts will obviously have more of an effect on the volume than only replacing one. Many people describe the lower gain tubes as having more of a "bluesy" sound.

Suosittelen myös ihan kokeilemaan noita muita putkia niin selviää vaikutukset paljon paremmin kun ihan pääsee kuulemaan. Eivät maksa moiset etusputket kuitenkaan ihan maltaita.
