NEW YORK (Peach/Sanctuary press release) - Fans of the Allman Brothers Band who weren't able to make it to New York City this past March to catch any of their 13 shows at the Beacon Theatre will now be able to see what they missed. On September 23, the group will release "Live At The Beacon Theatre," a two DVD set (Peach/Sanctuary Records) capturing this year's "March Madness" performances at the venue, where the band has played regularly since 1989.
 
The DVD features over three hours of live footage--culled from two performances--plus exclusive interviews, a behind-the-scenes look and a photo gallery. The track listing reads like a BROTHERS fan's dream set, mixing classics like "Midnight Rider," "Melissa" and "Whipping Post" with the cream of their latest CD--the critically acclaimed 2003 album Hittin' The Note (Peach/Sanctuary Records) - including "Desdemona," "The High Cost Of Low Living" and "Maydell." The DVD was mixed by producers Michael Barbiero and Warren Haynes in 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound, 5.1 DTS Surround and Dolby Digital Stereo.
 
On the television front, the Allman Brothers Band - Gregg Allman, Butch Trucks, Jaimoe, Warren Haynes, Marc Quinones, Derek Ttrucks and Oteil Burbridge - will return to "The Tonight Show" stage on Tuesday, September 2 where they'll perform "The High Cost of Low Living," the new single from Hittin' The Note. This appearance will precede the September 4 launch of the western leg of their 2003 tour, which wraps September 21.
 
The group's 2003 tour kicked off with the 13 Beacon shows. In a live review of opening night, Tom Moon wrote in Rolling Stone (4/17/03) that "The Allmans were busy roaring through, and often reinventing, the backroads boogaloo blues and shitkicking Southern shuffles they made famous?the Allman Brothers Band remains connected to the undiluted emotional essence of its music." Ben Ratliff's review in the New York Times said (3/28/03), "Tuesday's show, filmed for a future DVD, represented the band in its plain state, working through a mixture of old and new songs. The septet is as sturdy as ever!
The Allmans are satisfying: they have a mandate, and they fill it, with less a meta-improvisational quality than they've had in the past, whereby one song morphed into another."
 
Meanwhile, in Rolling Stone's new issue on the 100 greatest guitarists, late Allman Brothers Band founding guitarist Duane Allman came in at #2 (right after Jimi Hendrix, who he greatly admired), while the group's current guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks landed at #23 and #81, respectively.

Speciaali materiaali minkä saa netistä imeä, on siis puuttuvat DVD filet ja puuttuvat Audio Filet. Osasinkohan nyt selittää oikein...:0 Eli salasanalla pääsee imemään videotakin, ei pelkästään audiota!!!

Tää on loistava juttu "päästä keikalle" kun ei ole ollut vielä mahdollisuutta/osunut kohdalleen keikkaa tuolla rapakon takana.

no nyt alako taas vituttaa.
olin 97/98 jenkeissä ja vieruskaupungissa oli Mule keikalla, olin just alkanu diggailla ja oli kova hinku mennä, mutta kyyti petti joten ei sitten nähty. nyt kun ajttelee niin taksillakinhan sitä ois voinu pyrähtää sinne. no aina ei voi voittaa.

Gov't Mule ilmoitti juuri virallisesti uuden basistinsa valinnasta!
Hän on Andy Hess! Loistavaa! Tämä tietää että homma ei kaatunut lopullisesti vanhan kunnon Allenin kuolemaan. Hyvä näin. Näin varmasti Woodykin haluaisi.
Andy soitti kahdella keikalla joita olin katsomassa jenkeissä helmikuussa, toimii...

(New York, NY) ­ After three years of rotating bass players, special guests,
one night stands and cheap thrills, Gov¹t Mule is ready to settle down with
long-time friend and bassist Andy Hess.
 
Mule -- comprised of founding guitarist and drummer Warren Haynes and Matt
Abts with keyboardist Danny Louis -- has been without a permanent bass
player since original bassist and founding member Allen Woody passed away
August 2000.
 
"We've been fortunate to have many amazing bass players tour and record with
us," says Haynes. "When we played with Andy Hess - it felt like a band."
 
"It's a real honor and privilege to play with Gov¹t Mule," says Hess.
"Allen¹s are some big shoes to fill, but I am going to try to put my own
stamp on it. I am very excited about being a part the band."
 
Hess has played and recorded with Gov¹t Mule countless times over the past
three years. He previously performed with The Black Crowes, Joan Osborne,
Freedy Johnston, and most recently toured with The John Scofield Band.
Between gigs he¹s done session work for the likes of David Byrne and Tina
Turner.
 
"In my late teens I moved out to the Bay area and started playing local
blues gigs. I was exposed to a lot of local guys and some bigger national
guys like John Lee Hooker. I was listening to B.B. King and Muddy Waters."
 
Hess moved to NY in 1990 and honed his live skills. "I struggled pretty
hard. The first five years were cover gigs and it was all about paying dues
and hustling $50 to $100 gigs. It wasn't until 1996 that things started
happening," he recalls. "All the while I was meeting a lot great musicians
and making a lot friends. I learned to play tons of songs and learned how to
jam. It was a whole education. It kept things going and inspired. I thought,
OIf I keep it going, it'll pay off.¹ Now I am joining one of the greatest
rock bands in the world and we have a great future ahead of us."

Toivottavasti posti kulkee mahdollisimman nopeasti....

Tosin olen nähnyt jo yhtä promoa myytävän ebayssä...eli voi sellainen levy jo suomessa jollakin ollakin.

Niin, tietenkin löytyy DVD, eli Rising Low, joka on musiikilla höystetty dokumentti Deep End levyjen teosta.

Nyt on Vanha Kehno saanut selvästi otteen miehestä:) Kunhan ajan myötä vielä sekoat Allman Brotherseihin yms. perustamma southern orkesterin. Eikö?
