|Broadly speaking, the idea would be groovy stuff in the vein of 60's-70's soul/funk but with a rock edge — or vice versa, a rock band with a soul/funk edge. Example bands would be Free, Humble Pie, Rolling Stones, Baby Huey, The Impressions, Buddy Miles, Aretha Franklin, Faces -- but also drawing inspiration from bands/artists like David Bowie (Ziggy record especially), Elton John (Madman, Yellow brick road), The Police (first album), The Clash and Rival Sons.|
Above mentioned would be, though, more of a guideline and a hook to draw the right musicians into the project, not a strict rule. Great songs are going to be priority, even if they happen to be off the framework.
Looking for a drummer, singer(either sex) and bassists at the very least, but keyboardists/multi-instrumentalists are welcome to get in touch as well. I play guitar myself, can sing backing vocals and write songs/lyrics, but other songwriter-minded are welcome to chime in too.
Experience-wise you should have a solid grasp of your instrument. Think semi-pro, but rather than looking for versatile virtuosos, I'm more interested in musicians who are very comfortable and confident in doing "their thing" and who fit this particular project. I've played close to 20 years now, for reference, done gigs and recorded. You can check my last band from my profile.
Attitude for the band should be relaxed but dedicated. We'd aim to steadily write songs, rehearse regularly, record and gig (mainly in the central area), but the main point of the band would be to make and play great music in a great company.
If interested, hit me up here with a little bit about yourself (Finnish or English) for starters and we can take it from there!
