|I know this will look kind of random, but I think it might work and be quite fun. |
So, yeah. I am a singer in my 30s and have been singing for more than half of my life. I have had many bands and projects along the way - both amateur and semi-professional. My background is in rock - rockabilly, classic rock, hard rock, metal. But after all this time I am tired of playing the same songs, over and over. I feel like singing something different.
There is another important thing about my background that comes into play: I am a Brazilian guy. And here comes a free history lesson: Brazil was under a dictatorship from 1964 till the late 80s. Do you know what that means? It means some damn good music was made at the time. And don't think it was some plain angry stuff. These people had to be smart to fool the censors into allowing their songs.
So let's go into what I feel like playing: It would be some Brazilian funk/soul/latin/psychedelic songs from the 70s. The idea is to play in the studio and eventually play some gigs - but especially have fun. If we get along and feel like making some original music in the future, that is also possible.
So, what kind of musicians am I looking for?
- One guitar player that can do rhythm guitar, but can also pull out some mean fuzz solos.
- One bass player who's got pocket - after all, otherwise you can't hold no groove. I mean a bass player who's into funk but is also willing to go for samba or some prog/psychedelic stuff.
- One keyboard player who'll make the band feel just right. Sometimes you'll be filling in with some horns or strings, but sometimes you'll also go crazy with some early synth sounds.
- One drummer that... well, this is latin music. So, percussive music and complex rhythms. I think this should be especially fun for a drummer.
You DO NOT have to be Brazillian to join. And if you know nothing about the music and context behind it, this could be even more fun for you - since you will come out with a whole new set of music to enjoy.
