"Witheria are from Finland and this is their 3rd full length album. The album opens up with some seriously killer thrash riffs that remind me of Forbidden or Vio-lence. I cant quite place it but the riffs remind me heavily of late 80s thrash, maybe Destruction. However, the drum work is more akin to death metal as are the vocals. We basically have some tight death-thrash here that is highly catchy. The vocals at times are big and burly guttural death metal vocals with some decent pronunciation. You will also hear shouted chorus sections and even some up front blackened vocal moments. Even though you will hear vocal influence from across the board the music maintains a thrash foundation at all times with a very organized vocal delivery. Now, the guitar work, as I said is extremely thrash metal with lots of triplets, sliding and palm muting, everything you ever heard in the 80s. Although you will hear some occasional moments that seem almost progressive most of the time they stay within a predictable box never moving to far away from the foundation. Yet, you will hear sections that seem inspired from early 90s death metal as well as a few parts that grind away but as I said the band has a solid thrash metal juncture that dances into a slight progressive moment from time to time. It should be mentioned all the guitar work is top notch and very tight and the lead work is skilled. With that said, a lot of these riffs have been used a thousand times over. However, the mix of death metal , grind and thrash help give the band a fresh sound even while playing riffs that are not necessarily ground breaking. I highly recommend hearing the first track A.T.D.B.T.S, it is extremely aggressive with a focal riff that will break your neck.
